Living in bin

Tondo, Manila District, Philippines
Flavia Müller - Series
In the Philippines, a big part of the population (around 200,000) lives in poverty, whereby a big part of the poor population lives on and from the dumpsites.
In the Philippines, a big part of the population (around 200,000) lives in poverty, whereby a big part of the poor population lives on and from the dumpsites. They live in tiny shacks in the middle of the dumpsite, surrounded by rubbish or  they live next to the slaughterhouse and ship landing station, directly at the sea.

They live in small wooden houses, most of them are not fully intact, hardly have electricity or running water and surrounded by rubbish.
The government now is giving some effort to relocate them to proper housing areas, but that will take long to make that happen.
